Building and Preservations Issues

The California State Office of Historic Preservation staff will be here in Fresno on Friday, November 4th to provide training on the California Historical Building Code, the Mills Act, Tax Incentives and other preservation issues. In addition Karana Hattersley-Drayton, Historic Preservation Project Manager for the City of Fresno will be presenting with preservation architect Scott Vincent on highlights from current and prior rehabilitation projects here in Fresno.
Sessions will include topics on how to craft an effective historic preservation ordinance, learning the economic benefits of historic preservation, and discussion of local preservation incentives, including the Mills Act. Attendees will learn the value of establishing an effective local survey program and how to incorporate survey results into local landuse planning.
AIA members can also receive 3 CEU’s for attending.
