Are you interested in being a part of the work locally and statewide in the American Institute of Architects?
We currently have positions seeking nominations for our 2020-2021 Board of Directors, and we’d love to have you join our leadership team!

The AIA SJ Board of Directors provides oversight and strategic planning to ensure the health and growth of the organization. Prospective Board Members are selected by an annual Nominating Committee and are formally elected following a subsequent vote by the Chapter members.  There are seven (7) positions open with no current nominations yet, and (5) positions with current Board Members that have announced their interest or are continuing for another term, 12 positions total.

The following positions with no announced candidates are as follows:

  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Director of Education
  • Director of Events
  • Director of Information and Public Relations
  • Director of Membership
  • Director of Governmental Affairs

Nominations are re-opened and now due by 6PM Nov. 29th

Candidates interested in any position are encouraged to participate as all ‘nominations from the floor’ will be honored.

Interested candidates should complete a 2020/2021 Nomination Form in order to be considered and return as indicated.  Candidates are also encouraged to complete a Candidate Statement and return by December 4th to be available for the membership during the election process)

UPDATE: Election process and timeline has been revised as follows: 

After preliminary review, candidates will be formally elected by a ballot vote of AIA San Joaquin Chapter members.
Elections will now occur from December 4th 8AM to December 18th 5PM, with a ballot sent to all current members and to be returned no later than December 18th at 5PM.  Ballots will be tallied at the December 18th Board of Directors meeting  and those elected will become Board members for the 2020 and 2021 term.  .


Current 2018/2019 Board Members that have expressed interest in positions or are continuing on the 2020/2021 Board to be slated on the ballot:

Rodger Davidson, AIA, – 2020/2021 President; and 2022/2023 Immediate Past President
Jeff Berrios, AIA , – 2020/2021 Vice President/President-elect; and 2022/2023 President; and 2024/2025 Immediate Past President

Arthur T. Dyson, AIA, IAA, APA, CID, FARA, – 2020/2021 Immediate Past President

Paul Halajian, AIA, LEEP AP,  – 2020/2021 AIA California Council Representative/Director

All valid nominations will be honored.

Please note that ballots will be emailed to membership and filled out and returned to the AIA San Joaquin via direct mail, scanned email, or by hand by the due date, and NOT via a digital voting platform as previously indicated.
